Women Rule This: International Women’s Day

WHO RUN THE WORLD?

Girls Women.

It’s International women’s day and I’m so happy to be typing up this post because there are so many women out there that have truly inspired me and gotten me to where I’m at today. And if not for these women and their amazing personalities, I’d probably be stuck on countless self-help books, trying to figure out what to do with my life.

So with all that being said, I’m using today to share with you guys some of the women that have truly had an impact on me:

1.) My cousin, Nadia

Definitely one of my favourite older cousins and my go-to therapist. I love her work ethic, her strength, her confidence, and most importantly, her wisdom. During one of the craziest periods of my life, I relied on her for support, and her encouraging words of wisdom was what really kept me going. She probably has no idea how much impact she has had on me. But if there’s any woman out there that I can be my real, raw and honest self with, she’s definitely the one.

2.) My Mom

My mom and I weren’t so close when I was growing up, but right when I got into college, we became much closer. I admire her strength and her will to keep pushing even during tough seasons. She’s my biggest support system, both financially, spiritually and physically. I love how she believes in me and actually supports me in pursuing my passion, even if it means giving up all she has to support me. Won’t be where I am today without her.

3.) My Bestfriend, Amarachi

We’ve been friends for over 9 years and she’s honestly like a sister to me. She has the kindest heart and I’m so thankful that she’s in my life. I love her dedication, her ability to empathize with others, and most importantly, her strong will. She’s been there with me through thick and thin, and honestly, I can’t thank God enough for her.

4.) Sia

Can’t talk about International women’s day without mentioning Sia. Her music got me through a lot of hard times and it’s crazy how much impact her songs had on me. Now that I’m saved and I barely listen to secular music, hers is still one I catch myself slipping to play once in a while. Some of her lyrics usually speak to me, and I’m just thankful for artists like her that use music to inspire. Her two albums that speak to me a lot are “1000 forms of fear” and “This is Acting”I could play it ALL DAY!

Some of my favourite songs from her:

  • Footprints
  • Dressed in black
  • Angel by the wings
  • The greatest
  • Elastic heart
  • Bird set free
  • Big girls cry
  • never give up
  • Helium
  • Cheap Thrills
  • Unstoppable

5.) Tamera Mowry

I love watching The Real Daytime, and if there’s anyone on there that I love to listen to, it’ll definitely be Tamera. I also love Jeannie too. But I just love how bold Tamera is with her faith and how she carries herself, both as a wife and a mother. Really nice to see such women in Hollywood. Definitely on my list for international women’s day!

6.) Alice Walton

Hey, She’s a freaking billionaire, and that is just enough inspiration for me. I love seeing women at the top of the financial ladder and that makes me super motivated to work hard and never give up. A lot of people are quick to say “we live in a man’s world”, but honestly, women rule this too. And people like her are the reason why that old adage needs to die.
