Nice to meet you. I’m Eleanor Ajoku-Henry and welcome to my kitchen. I am a Chemical Engineer, food photographer, recipe developer, content creator and writer of Eleanor’s Dish.
I created Eleanor’s Dish in my sophomore year of college, because I love cooking and creating recipes. Honestly, when I first created this website, it was more of a lifestyle blog where I shared whatever came to mind. However, as time went on, and I matured a bit more, I decided to niche down my focus to cooking. I still talk about other fun things on the blog, however, right here you should expect all things food.
If you were stranded on a desert island and given some raw ingredients to prepare a full course meal as your means of survival, with no prior cooking experience; You probably would become Gordon Ramsey overnight, right?
I therefore created this blog to give the unprofessionals (the chef rejects) the opportunity to perfect their cooking skills by creating meals that taste like professional.
My Love For Cooking Goes Way Back
Cooking has always been a passion of mine from a young age. I still remember the first toy cooking set my dad got me for a birthday present as a little girl. It was the best present I had received at that time, and I honestly was so obssessed with it that it was all I played with growing up. I still vividly remember plucking plants from a mango tree that used to be in our front yard to play “pretend cook” with my toy frying pan. Not going to lie, my pretend cook didn’t feel like pretend at that time, because I honestly legit thought I was a boss chef.
One time, I managed to ignite a fire (Don’t worry about how I actually did it, my chemical engineer brains were still somewhat growing at that time) and I actually ended up cooking the plants. And you probably guessed it.. It tasted like trash! Thank goodness I didn’t give up cooking after my first epic fail, because it led me to where I am today.
So yeah… my love for cooking has been around for a long time, and my hope is that I can inspire you with my recipes and captivating photographs to sharpen your own cooking skills and create delicious meals.
